Hello/Goodbye |
|
|
It's been a while since this section of the web site has changed, thanks to my prowess and diligence at blogging, so some of you might be caught off guard by seeing something different in this portion of the Home Page. Don't let it alarm you. I'll likely continue to update this as infrequently as in the past to lessen the shock to our readers. Trust me, I'm a conservative. Change is bad.
I do need to bring y'all up to date on a couple of important things, though...
First of all, the "Hello." We have undergone some changes in the format of our youth program that everyone needs to be aware of. Due to staffing changes, group size, and logistical issues, we have decided to go to a combined meeting format. We had already been meeting jointly with the junior high and senior high students in our Bible Studies, but now we are extending that to all activities and events. As of the middle of August, we have been meeting with all of the youth combined. Please see the updated Google Calendar under the Calendar button in the Menu for meeting times and events.
Secondly, the sad "Goodbye." For the past couple of years the Youth Group has benefited immensely from the service and ministry of our junior high director, Ryan Tafilowski. Ryan has been such an incredible blessing to me, to the Church, and in the lives of many young people. God has blessed us beyond words through the service and wisdom of this young man. We will miss him terribly, but we know that God will continue to bless and use him as he moves on to this next phase of his life, growth, and ministry.
Thank you for everything, Ryan!! We love you and are grateful for you!

It has come to my attention that I may have been somewhat delinquent in my blogging of late. And by "somewhat delinquent" I mean that I have done one. And that was about three or four months ago. I guess that doesn't even really count as a "blog" then, technically, since blog is short for web log, and a log is a regularly kept record of events or activities. There is nothing regular about this log. (Don't think about that sentence very long...)
Probably a more descriptive term for this section would be a "bletter." That way there are no expectations of frequency and when it comes, you're just glad it's not a bill. Let's all just aim for zero, that way no one is disappointed.
OK...maybe I'll try to be a little more diligent. Sackcloth and ashes.
Look for a veritable deluge of blogs/bletters from here on out. Unless, of course, I get sidetracked by something shiny...

Inaugural... |

Welcome to the first Blog ever!
Well...maybe it's not the first Blog in the history of the World Wide Web. That would be quite a claim. I'm sure there have been others. But it's MY first, so that has to be some sort of milestone worthy of commemoration. Perhaps a virtual parade...
In the future, you will undoubtedly be using this Blog as the final source for all things profound and life-changing, but before this ship casts off into the fathomless depths of Lake Poignant, there is a bit of important business to attend to.
I need to administer a big shout-out (that's young people lingo) to our intrepid webmaster, Jonathan! While there is still a bit of work yet to be done, there has been a great deal of time, effort, and energy that has gone into this site, and Jonathan has made it look great! Not only has he invested a considerable amount into the site itself, but he has also spent quite a bit of time trying to help me overcome my boundless ignorance of all things pertaining to cyberspace. Thank you, Jonathan!
I am excited for the opportunities this site will afford in the future and I am looking forward to the ways God will use it in the life of our group.
Now, if I can only keep from deleting the internet...
